When did you join Women in Transport?
2020.
Why did you join Women in Transport?
I was really impressed by the number, quality and relevance of the online events that Women in Transport put on for the members during the pandemic lockdown, and so wanted to show my support and acknowledgement of that by becoming a member.
What do you enjoy most about being part of Women in Transport?
Without exception, the events that I have attended online have been really interesting; unfortunately my calendar doesn't allow me to attend as many these days now that the 'real world' has opened back up again, but I do my best! I have been a Mentor on the Advance programme for the past four years - and I value this opportunity to 'pay it forward' to colleagues in the Transport industry.
Current job title
Founder & CEO.
What does your current job involve?
I am the CEO of a small recruitment business, which works with organisations in the UK Transport Industry to attract and recruit senior talented leaders for permanent and interim contract roles. We work with both rail and bus, although my personal time is spent primarily with our rail clients, keeping myself updated on their business objectives and performance, which means that I am better able to find the right people for their team when we are given a search assignment to work on. I also represent my business at industry events - and keep myself informed by reading the key industry journals too. I have been a Judge for the National Rail Awards for the past 8 years, which is a huge privilege - and I was a Mentor under the Women in Transport Advance programme for four years (I missed the deadline for applications for 2025!).
What's the best thing about your job?
The people I get to meet!
How did you become involved in the transport industry?
I launched my business (Intuitive Talent Solutions) in 2013, and knew that I wanted to focus my efforts in an industry which needed transformational change - as that presents an opportunity to introduce new leadership - and I chose the Transport industry. Rail was the initial focus and remains the most signficant area for us currently, although our Bus & Coach business is growing fast thanks to the efforts of my colleague, Caroline Wilson.
What do you like about working in transport?
The people who work in transport are so passionate about the work that they do; there is a real sense of purpose and social value to the work and this is palpable when I speak to people.
What are you most proud of?
My team, and the care and attention they give to each and every candidate and client that we work with - and the feedback that we receive consistently about how different we are!
