Earlier this week Equality Ministers announced the launch of the Equality (Race and Disability) Bill consultation on mandatory ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting. The link to the consultation can be found here . The consultation closes on 10th June.
The manifesto and the King’s Speech announced this Government’s intention to legislate to deliver important commitments that seek to create a more equal society and support a growing economy, including introducing mandatory ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting for larger employers (with 250 or more employees). Ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting will provide transparency and vital data to help businesses identify and close ethnicity and disability pay gaps within their workforces. The Government has been clear and consistent that it is committed to working in partnership with businesses, trade unions, civil society and other stakeholders to deliver a more equal society in which people can thrive whatever their background.
This public consultation will seek views which we will use to shape this legislation.
Ministers are considering what other measures the draft Bill could incorporate, including through a call for evidence which will be published separately. The call for evidence will include consideration of how we make the right to equal pay effective for ethnic minority and disabled people.
