Welcome to the Women in Transport West Midlands Hub
We’re an inclusive network working to empower and support women working within the transport industry. We are open to all genders across the West Midlands and recognise the importance of male allyship.
Launched in May 2022 with the support of National Express, our West Midlands Hub is here to inspire connection, learning and progress.
Speaking about the purpose of the Hub, Women in Transport’s West Midlands Regional Lead Chloe Williams said:
“In 2022, women made up just 19% of the West Midlands transport workforce, so we recognise the vital importance of our network. We will provide learning and development opportunities, showcase and celebrate women who are delivering change within the industry, and work to inspire the next generation that transport is the place to be!”

What we offer
When you join Women in Transport, you’re not just gaining access to professional development resources and a platform to shape the future of transport – you’re becoming part of a movement that’s driving real change in our industry from the ground up.
The West Midlands hub unites members through a programme of virtual and in-person events tailored for the region and grounded in our local context. These local events complement the broader Women in Transport offerings, expanding the network’s reach and creating meaningful connections. Many events are open to non-members as we continue to grow our community in the region.
Who we are
Women in Transport is a professional membership-based organisation open to everyone working in transport. Our mission is to support women in the sector, empowering them to thrive in both their professional and personal lives while advancing their representation in the industry. We believe that by working together, we can promote a diverse and dynamic transport workforce that powers UK growth.
Celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2025, we are keen to grow our membership and encourage volunteers to come and join us. Through a mix of engaging events and collaboration with like-minding organisations, we are building a thriving regional community that aligns with our mission and values.
Latest news from the West Midlands Hub
Our West Midlands Regional Lead – Chloe Williams
I am currently an Associate Transport Planner at Arup and UK Travel Behaviour Change Lead. I have over 14 years’ experience working within the transport industry and have worked across both the public and private sectors. I’ve been the West Midlands Regional Lead for Women in Transport since March 2024. I am really looking forward to bringing this cross-sector expertise to the role and help us to collaborate across the industry. So often, different sectors and organisations face many of the same challenges, so Women in Transport provides us with a great platform to work together.
Born and raised in Birmingham (the accent is always a giveaway!), I am a very very proud Brummie! I am a proud advocate for the values and aspirations of people that live and work in this region. As a region, I feel we have been overlooked for way too long!
My proudest career moment to date was leading the Travel Demand Management programme for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. I feel that this has been a catalyst for change, and with the eyes of the world watching we proved that this region could deliver a significant transport operation for a major sporting event really successfully! Now I want to focus on how we can create an environment in the transport industry locally that will motivate and inspire the next generation to join us.
I became a member of Women in Transport back in 2022, shortly after the West Midlands hub was initiated. There have been great strides made around diversity since I started in my career, but there is still a lot more work to do and I wanted to play a small part in that.
I really enjoy engaging with people from different sectors and organisations all with different perspectives, life experiences and from diverse backgrounds, but all sharing the common goal of working to support women in the transport industry.
Corporate Partners
We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our corporate partners in the West Midlands. These organisations help us bring our events to life by hosting us at their offices, sponsoring catering or other important things, joining as corporate members and allowing their staff to attend our events, providing inspirational speakers, and generally spreading the word about our mission to empower women and advocate for greater representation.
A special thank you goes to:
